This is the eighth volume of an editorial collection edited by the Ethnographic Museum of Madeira (MEM). Cadernos de Campo are books that result from a longstanding project to promote Madeira's cultural heritage.Â
Onde a LĂŁ Vive results from a collaboration between the collective Enfia o Barrete (led by Irina Andrusko and Luz Ornelas) and writer and illustrator Rafaela Rodrigues. This book documents all stages of processing of the regional wool in Madeira, from grazing to the wool's transformation into objects, with a spotlight on two local spinners Isabel da Eira and Isabel Ferreira, and it includes a reportoire of local knitting and traditional knitwear.
This volume includes contributions from Rosa Pomar, with instructions for knitting a barrete de orelhas, barrete de bolota and a traditional cardigan.
